Dr. Vijay K. Chopra (MD, DM, FESC, FHFA, FCSI) graduated from the Christian Medical College, Vellore, in 1972 and completed his postgraduate training in Medicine and Cardiology at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, in 1979. He subsequently served as a Consultant Cardiologist at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Associate Director of Cardiology at Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, and Director of the Heart Failure Programme at Medanta. He is currently Senior Director – Clinical Cardiology, Heart Failure and Research at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi. He is a Fellow of the Cardiological Society of India, the European Society of Cardiology and the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology. He was the Founding President of the Heart Failure Association of India and currently serves as a Member of its Board of Governors. He serves on the Editorial Boards of ESC Heart Failure, Cardiac Failure Review, and Heart Failure Review, and is Regional Consulting Editor of the European Journal of Heart Failure. He also serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Global Cardiology. He is actively involved in clinical trials and has been the National Lead Investigator in several large multinational trials including ROCKET-AF, Red-HF, ELIXA, TIMI-51 ACS, ODYSSEY OUTCOMES and EAST, FOURIER, PARAGON, DAPA-HF, EMPEROR-Reduced, EMPEROR-Preserved, SCORED, PARADISE, DARE-19, FINE-ARTS, EMPACT-MI, STEP-HF, BALANCED-HF, CONFIRMATION, REDEFINE, BAX-DUO Prevent, EASI-HF Reduced, EASI-HF Preserved, EASI-Pro TKT, Azure Outcome, Azure LDL, and Iconic-HF, among others. He has also served as Principal Investigator in multiple studies including MUSIC, ADHF, STROKE Registry, EXSCEL, PARADIGM, ASIAN-HF, ODYSSEY OUTCOMES, REPORT-HF, SELECT, TD-PAH, BAYER-CHF, and BAX-HTN. He has authored more than 130 original papers, reviews and editorials in national and international journals.
