Professor Habib Gamra, who has been Professor of Cardiology at the University of Monastir, Tunisia, since 1996, is a leading figure in cardiovascular medicine and education in Africa and the Middle East. He is President of the Pan-African Society of Cardiology (PASCAR) and Chairman of the Pan African Course on Interventional Cardiology (PAFCIC), an annual educational program established in 2000. He is also President of the Tunisian Heart Foundation and serves as Stent Save a Life Country Champion for Tunisia. His international academic leadership includes his roles as Co-Director of Africa PCR and the CSI Africa Congress, Co-Chairman of the Cardiovascular Clinical Trialists MEMA Meeting, Co-Editor of the European Heart Journal for North Africa, and Co-Chair of the Expert Group on Fixed-Dose Combinations at the World Heart Federation. Previously, Professor Gamra served as Head of the Cardiology A Department at Fattouma Bourguiba University Hospital in Monastir, Tunisia, and as President of the Regulatory Specialized Commission at the Tunisian Ministry of Health. His past leadership roles also include serving as President of the Working Group on Interventional Cardiology of the Tunisian Society of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery (GTCI), President of the African Heart Network, and Co-Chair of the PASCAR Interventional Cardiology Task Force (PASCI). Professor Gamra obtained his medical degree from the University of Sousse School of Medicine (Tunisia) in 1987. He completed his residency in cardiology at Charles Nicolle Hospital in Rouen, France, and pursued advanced subspecialty training through a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Good Samaritan Hospital and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, USA. Professor Gamra contributes extensively to scientific publishing and currently serves on the editorial boards of several national and international peer-reviewed journals.
